New York: Tuesday 15 October, 2013
Phew! What a day! Arrived in NYC and grabbed a cab downtown. On the way, I passed the Lincoln Motor Inn where, more likely than not, you would be assassinated!! The iconic view of the Manhattan skyline with the Empire State and Chrysler Buildings gives you a thrill. Disappointing that King Kong couldn't put in an appearance, but I guess he is too busy in Melbourne.....
I met Rick at our hotel, The MAve on Madison Avenue, and after I had a shower to wash away the flight, we hit the ground running!! Just up the road from us is the Museum of Sex and if it hadn't been for two girls giggling about the window displays, we probably would have walked straight past.....
The "slightly used" part is a little disturbing....
Then it was up past the Empire State Building and Chipotles for dinner: shredded beef salad and the first margarita of the trip....the first of many....
A walk past the Library with no evidence of ghost busting and then it was a hop, skip and a jump to the Rockefeller Centre, some dodgy souvenir shopping and discounted Ben & Jerry's ice cream.
A trip to the Big Apple would be incomplete without an obligatory stop at Times Square. And Times Square equals the M&Ms shop.....complete with blue M&M and mood reading machinery......
Run tell that!!!
A quick walk for dinner turned into a couple of hours of wandering the city. A great start and well done me for not falling over asleep!!
