Back and to the left.....

Dallas, Texas: Friday November 8, 2013

I got my history nerd on today at the former Texas Book Depository. The Sixth Floor Museum is located, funnily enough, on the sixth floor.

There was lots of information, which was great for the history nerd, but the layout of the museum was pretty poor: alcoves created bottlenecks. One of the surprising omissions was the Zapruder film. Although there were many stills of the film, the actual footage was not in the museum. The image of JFK's head being blown back (no polite way to put it) was not shown at all throughout the museum. On one hand I get it, as it is a disturbing image, but any less disturbing than Xs placed on the road where he was shot by the bullets??

This was close to where Zapruder was filming.....the X is where JFK was first hit....

For me, it was incredibly cool/eerie to be in a place that I have read about, seen in documentaries and in movies. It was convenient that they labelled things....

Panoramic view with BD to left (behind the tree) and grassy knoll to the right (out of picture)...

Looking down the street to the overpass.....

Looking back up to the Book Depository....

From behind the fence on the grassy knoll....

X marks the spot....from behind the fence on the grassy knoll.....

Taken from the overpass.....train line, BD, three roads going under overpass, continuation of train line....

Looking back the other way from across the street.....

A quiet day today as we, well at least Amber and I, are a little under the weather....but we managed to find some hilarity at Pottery Barn.....

Animal Xmas tree anyone??

Or what about the traditional Xmas dart board or Tower soldier??

Fish and bowling pins are standard for xmases at my house....

And some great stocking stuffers....frog measuring tape anyone?

Everyone needs a lion staple remover.....

And a hippo stapler.....
