New Orleans: Friday 1 November
All Saint's Day
After recommendations from Ash and Kim and Flick and Mos, we headed down to the Mississippi River for the lunch cruise on the Natchez. It is one of two steamboats still operating in the US. We were initially serenaded by the pipes with Amber hoping for "When the Saints Go Marching In" (being a St. Kilda supporter and all) and she was rewarded with the slightly annoying strains of it interspersed with Ode to Joy. (Shoulder shrug) And away we went on the ninth incarnation of the Natchez.
We had a buffet lunch and were well informed by the Captain about different sights along the Mississippi....none of which I can remember at present.....
The Jackson Brewery or the Jax.....
Jackson Square.....
Apparently this is the Union Jack.....?????
The Captain bringing us into port.....
Ben was obviously so thrilled to be in my company....however, he accompanied me to a voodoo reading. Apparently, according to Zaa, I try to do too many things at one time, stress out too much and some other stuff that I will need to go back and listen to....some stuff I had NO IDEA about what he was talking about!! But for the second time, I've been told that I am coming into money....through fair means, not foul. I'll need it to pay for this trip!!!!
Back to Jackson Square to watch the world go by....
And eat some chips.....
A wander down to Frenchman Street gave us the opportunity to see more of the beautiful architecture of the city....
Halloween is celebrated well here.....
And there was some great art on Frenchman.....
And cool beer signs.....
And some more Halloween....
Back at our hotel, Amber and I had Hurricanes...someone being a little competitive in the drinking stakes....(not me!!!).....
